For Students and Companies
We are a world-leading laboratory for “gold science and environmental chemistry.” Through the development of gold nanoparticle catalysts and functional oxide catalysts, we aim to realize energy-saving chemical processes in harmony with the environment. Our goal is to pioneer the frontiers of new material science and to create materials needed by the new era.
Research
Nanoparticles and Oxides
Professor Murayama was the last member of Professor Emeritus Haruta's research group that discovered gold nanoparticle catalysts. He continues to lead the world in research on gold nanoparticle catalysts.
Our laboratory is also leading research on catalytic detoxification of air pollutants in exhaust gases. Symbolic research is being conducted on catalysts for detoxifying ammonia to nitrogen (NH₃-SCO, selective catalytic oxidation of ammonia) and selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH₃ (NH₃-SCR)in the exhaust gas of stationary boilers.
